From Ferdowsi with his “Book Of Kings” speaking about patriotism and the love of motherland, to Forough Farokhzad whom bravely spoke about women’s feelings and pain, Persian people of all genre have find solace in reading poetry.
Either the poem is about trees or flowers, birds or bees, the sea or the stars, the Sun or the Earth, the Moon or the Mystic, poetry brings its reader into a trance like a lullaby would for an infant. Either the poem is about spirituality or religion, the body or the soul, it is always a gateway in opening the door to a different perspective.
Saadi and Hafez, Rudaki and Rumi, Khaghani and Khayyam gave us their best in the form of poetry, depicting a moonlight like no others , or a Sun so bright that for a few moments, while reading, we leave the Earth and walk on clouds.
Carpe Diem or Seizing The Day is the message of all Persian poets.
Treasuring Time is the modus operandi of them all, as they mention repeatedly that life is a one time gift to us and there is no second act.

Fereydoun Moshiri, Sohrab Sepehri, Ahmad Shamlou, Houshang Ebtehaj with the leadership of Nima broke the old fashion style and brought us the new version of Persian Poetry.
Let us not forget, that they all talked about Love with emphasis of either one particular lover or humanity in general, so delicately that regardless of age or gender, falling in the valley of love at least once, with all the suffering it accompanied has become so inviting to their readers.
